RECOMMENDATIONS

"Bill and Tabitha Scott are tireless workers for Jesus Christ, this church, and the Kingdom. They are well-versed in apologetics, love to minister together, and have a vision for how apologetics can be employed to both win people to Christ and build up believers in the truth of Christianity. I commend their work to you."

TESTIMONY

I was not raised in the church. Indeed, I did not become a Christian until I was 26 and incarcerated. Before becoming a Christian, I journeyed to theism after finding atheism unsatisfying. I was very much the product of the secular humanist worldview I had received in my education in a public university. After a series of events, I became agnostic around 2009 and considered Buddhism for a short stent.

While being incarcerated for drug offenses in 2010, I found exactly what I was looking for. On November 4th, 2010, I gave my life to Jesus at a church service in the county lockup. I was released the next day and began attending church that following Sunday and shortly thereafter I met Tab. As you could imagine, apologetics played a vital role in my discipleship.

During my early years in youth ministry, I always found myself teaching apologetics to my youth. After receiving a Bachelor of Arts in biblical studies, my wife and I felt a calling to full-time apologetics ministry and decided to further my education at Houston Baptist University. Little did we know that the Ratio Christi Ministry at then Houston Baptist University (now Houston Christian University) was praying for a full-time Chapter director. God knew what He was doing!

Experience

Director of Ratio Christi International

I oversee the global expansion of Ratio Christi chapters into various cultural contexts. We have traveled to several countries in Europe,  South America, Southeast Asia, the Middle East, and Africa. I have spoken at several conferences and various media spots across the world and have planted chapters in the Middle East, Southeast Asia, Sub-Saharan Africa, and South America. My duties include cultivating the Ratio Christi community year to year through in-depth training, recruitment, student mission teams, and conference ministry opportunities.

Chapter Director - Houston Baptist University

I have trained students to share their faith in tactful and valuable ways. I have taught classes on apologetics and cultural evangelism as well. I continue to manage several students and direct them in leadership skill development. As a supported missionary, I have excelled in fundraising, leadership management, event hosting, and membership growth.

Senior Pastor

I served as a senior pastor of a church plant in Appalachia for five years, from 2015 to 2020. As senior pastor, I was responsible for preaching, teaching, discipleship, bus ministry, youth ministry, and leading worship. I also led drug recovery meetings and many other minor tasks. This was a church plant and a marvelous five-year experience that taught me what it means to be in full-time pastoral ministry.

Youth Pastor

I led a teen ministry of more than 20 people, preached weekly, and maintained a juvenile detention center ministry. Our teen ministry went on a few interstate trips in which I was heavily involved in the planning.

Missions

Texas & Kentucky

Most of our mission work has been in Houston, Texas, and rural Eastern Kentucky. Our Kentucky ministry was an outreach to the addicted poor, college students, and children. It was in Kentucky that we realized our calling as college student ministers and were blessed to begin our work with Ratio Christi. In Houston, Texas, we have worked for the last four years as apologetics and evangelistic campus missionaries with Ratio Christi. Beyond that, I have worked with The Houston Centre for Muslim & Christian Studies (an extension of the Centre for Muslim & Christian Studies at Oxford) and other unreached people group ministries.

Global

Having now ministered in over 20 countries, I am beginning to grasp the global church community, its nuances, and how I fit in cross-cultural ministry. I have worked with the underground church in several closed countries, planting ministries, smuggling Bibles and other supplies, and holding theology and apologetics conferences. Additionally, I have been privileged to appear on several podcasts, television programs, and radio shows all over the world.
